 A year ago we reported on the first Aston Martin DBS. The car’s exterior was widely recognized from the movie Casino Royale, but little was known about its inner workings and furthermore, it seemed impossible to get, unless you were 007. Well, the street version is now here, and while it’s still not easy to get your hands on—only a few hundred will be available in the United States—it’s no longer impossible. The 2009 DBS performance coupe, which is now Aston Martin’s top-of-the line trophy, infuses racing technology from the DBR9 with opulence (think butter-soft leather and aluminum control switches). The rest of the features are amazing, too: Bluetooth, satellite navigation, satellite radio, and integrated iPod connectivity to a 700-watt audio system, though the purr of the DBS is its own lullaby. You’ll need spectacular stretches of road to truly appreciate and open up its massive hand-built 6.0-liter V12 with 510 horsepower and 420-pound feet of torque. But once you do, it will be hard to drive almost anything else. (Starts at $265,000 astonmartin.com)
